Strong Foundations

I keep hearing how strong foundations keep everything grounded, whether it’s people, buildings, or our roots. But no matter what you may refer to a solid foundation for, the core principle remains the same. Without solid foundations, everything collapses. This topic made me think about many trials and tribulations I’m currently experiencing, so I began to research helpful tips to get me through life’s turbulent events. I hope these tips help you continue to build strong foundations around you.

Values:

Personal values are a huge key to living our best life. However, if we are the types of folks who have no problem walking over others to get to our goals, the chances are our values are not the same as those who are missionaries. That’s not to say it’s a bad thing, but each of us has unique values that help make up who we are.

Priorities:

What are your priorities in your lives? If it’s family, then they are among the top on your list. If it’s power, you will do anything to get what you want, when you want. The point is that we all have priorities in life. Some of them may seem trivial to others but extremely important to you. Maybe you sweat the small stuff. Evaluate yourself and figure out where your priorities are because those actions make a world of difference in the long run.

Schedule:

Some of you have a schedule packed so tight that you can’t possibly fit anything or anyone else into it, and if that’s the case, you may need to carve a little time for yourself to regroup into your day. Schedules help us stay organized and focused, but sometimes those schedules don’t allow us the time we need for ourselves. Plan your day accordingly.

Finances:

There are no two ways about this issue. Finances are one of the biggest obstacles and benefits we have in our lives. Some of us struggle with debt while others flourish. There are a select group of people who never worry about money, and if you are one of them, bravo. Unfortunately, many people worry about money all the time. Hell, even our government can’t get their finances under control, so why does the government expect people to learn how to manage their finances when they do a lousy job? It boils down to personal responsibility. If you have too much debt, there are resources available to help you get back on track. You have to be willing to get yourself together and stop overspending what you bring in. No one else is going to be your knight in shining armor. Learn to accept responsibility and go forward. It’s not easy to get out of debt, but it is possible. You have to be willing to use the resources available, and that means asking for help. There are many people trained to help others when they are struggling. Asking for help is one of the most challenging and necessary tasks to changing lives for the better.

Systems:

Support systems are in place all around us. Sometimes it may be leaning on family and friends when we feel kicked, and other times we may use different methods for various things in our lives. There are school systems, continuing ed systems, non-profit groups, healthcare systems, religious groups, etc.,. The point is that you have a lot more support to keep strong foundations under your feet than you may recognize. If you fall, so what? We all fall at different points in our lives. If we have a strong foundation under our feet and around us, we can steady ourselves as we get up. When we don’t have those foundations, we have to learn to build them as we go. That doesn’t mean that every day will be shaky. It just means that the more we use the right resources, the stronger our foundations become.

Mindset:

Mindsets are crucial to our foundations. If you have a negative attitude and bitch about everything in this world, you will constantly have a weak foundation. However, if you surround yourself with positive people and lead by example, their mentality begins to rub off on you. It’s a great feeling to know that you are doing more with your life when you get the negative energy eradicated. Once you have a focused mindset, you intend to have strong foundations to build and stand upon in your quest for life. Unfortunately, there will always be people who try to knock you down. But, you have the power to control your mindset and how you react to them and those circumstances.

No matter what happens, don’t be afraid to keep pushing yourself to be the best you can because no one else is living your life. You might surprise yourself at how far you can go. So, keep going after your dreams and never give up. Have a great day, everyone.
