It always amazes me at the electric energy-positive speakers and motivators create. When I struggle with life’s detours and pitfalls, I’m filled with electric power that seeps through my soul and ignites fires of creativity and dreams. The other day I was on a high because I completed the second course and embarked on my third. The realization that I was one course closer to my dream fills me with an electric passion that I refuse to extinguish.

I think this knowledge is true for any of us that have struggled to achieve dreams and turn them into realities. Life is always throwing water on our fires, sometimes those fires are extinguished, and other times they burn with a vengeance. The truth is that we all have electric energy that is bursting with power inside us. No one knows what they can do until they try. I’ve heard for years that the worst things in life are the chances we didn’t take.  This is true.

So why does this matter? When we fill ourselves with electric energy, we have more passion and desire to make our dreams a reality. When we drift along in a lull, we become complacent and fail to deal with motivation. How can we change this pattern?

One way is to stay focused.  Don’t let anyone or anything get you off track. If you have the passion and desire, you will have days that make you want to quit. Ask yourself if you want what you’re focused on or if it’s a whim. If it’s a whim, chances are you won’t pursue it and will become easily dissuaded, but if you want something bad enough, you’ll move heaven and earth to make it happen.

I always got tired of hearing the following statement, but it’s true.  Document your progress.  Why? For one thing, it holds you accountable. You can see where you started, the highs, the lows, and the in-betweens. If you hate writing, get creative. Please take pictures of your progress or write songs, or draw, paint, anything that helps you tell yourself the story of your journey, do it. The second reason is that you will amaze yourself with your failures and successes. Being willing to put yourself out there reiterates that you are not willing to let life pass you by each day. You’d rather live life to the fullest than live in a secluded shell.

Create a visualization board.  This item is one that I recently started doing, and it’s incredible at the transformation it’s giving me. I first noticed visualization boards in a movie and thought it was a cool concept, but the more I’ve done these last few months, the more I’ve learned that when you have a way to see your dreams become a reality, it’s a lot easier to remain focused with your goals and ambitions. Who knows? You might surprise yourself with what you put on the visualization board and what the end product will be.

Challenge yourself.   This topic should go without saying. Every day we are alive, we should find ways to challenge ourselves out of our comfort zone. The more we challenge ourselves, the more we allow our brains to have those electric moments of excitement. The best thing about challenging yourself? You grow. You grow as a person and in knowledge. No matter what life throws at you, you can challenge yourself and embrace unknown opportunities.

Last, find leaders to inspire you and keep you motivated.  I have found when I listen to positive speakers and leaders; I have more motivation and excitement. Do I have days of doubt? Yes. But I am finding that being honest about those moments is helping me find strength. My soul has a new electric energy that has taught me not to let the world pull me down with opposing forces. Instead, if I stay focused and on track, I can’t wait to see what other kinds of electricity will run through my veins. Have a great day, everyone.
