Christmas is finally here. Last night mom and I attended Christmas Eve service at two different churches and socially distanced to stay safe from the virus. The sounds of people singing hymns in the sanctuary were soothing to the soul. Lighting the candles from each other was comforting. In just a few moments, our world was peaceful. Ever since my dad died, my mom hasn’t wanted to put a tree up. I understand her logic, but it saddens me.
Christmas decorations have always made me feel happy. The lights of Christmas are beautiful and majestically light the streets and decorum. One of my favorite decorations is the wreaths I see displayed on doors. The atmosphere is infectious. There is something about this season that makes us appreciate each other more.
As you spend time today with your loved ones, I hope you take a moment to reflect on your blessings. Reach out to those you can’t share with today. It’s Christmas. Spread joy, not hate. Enjoy the food and time to reflect on the blessings you have. Our time on earth is not guaranteed. Live in the moment and celebrate. Merry Christmas, everyone!
